The Background Story
Honduras’ previous regime was run by Xiomara Castro of the LIBRE Party. The LIBRE Party was connected to drug traffickers in Venezuela and instituted a crackdown against private business in Honduras.
In the 2025 election, the conservative National Party of Honduras (PNH) defeated the LIBRE Party and Liberal Party in order to take control over the national government. The new Honduran President-elect Tito Asfura was endorsed strongly by President Donald Trump, opening the door for a new era of cooperation between Honduras and the U.S.
As a result, there is a massive opportunity for U.S. business investment to take hold in Honduras with the Honduran business community looking to build partnerships for the purposes of nearshoring industries as well as manufacturing, automotive, tech, coffee and various other industries.
